Dealing with some crippling clinical depression for the first time in my life, and it’s not fun. Tears are a good day though! I’m feeling something. Sad stuff aside, it’s the first time in my life where making art truly feels cathartic.
Won’t give away too much, but I’m working on a comic with the ever so sublime Paul Allor, and it’s sincerely written, full of POC, and is really quite charming. It’s gonna be rad, and I’m really honored to be a part of it.
This is a face I liked from a panel. Nappy hair is fun to draw!
Haven’t done one of these in a while. A peek into my wardrobe :)
Thanks for answering my question! Would you happen to have any recommendations for series to read?
Hummm…. Well, the Old Kingdom trilogy (SABRIEL, LIRAEL, ABHORSEN) by Garth Nix is always my go-to rec if you like gritty fantasy adventures to do with necromancy (and written in very non-flowery, straightforward prose!). And taking a wild guess that you found me through my Grisha trilogy fanart, so obviously that’s on the table too. Oh! And the His Dark Materials trilogy by Philip Pullman.
Aside from that… Hm. I don’t read a lot of series, but here’s my tried and true reading list of various genres:
- INVISIBLE CITIES by Italo Calvino
- THE COMPLETE SHORT STORIES OF ERNEST HEMINGWAY
- THE AMAZING ADVENTURES OF KAVALIER & CLAY by Michael Chabon
- HAROUN AND THE SEA OF STORIES by Salman Rushdie
- MRS DALLOWAY by Virginia Woolf
- STIFF by Mary Roach
- NORWEGIAN WOOD by Haruki Murakami
- LOLITA by Vladimir Nabokov
- PARADISE LOST by John Milton
- ZEN IN THE ART OF WRITING by Ray Bradbury (and all his short stories)
- PROFIT OVER PEOPLE by Noam Chomsky
- THE GREATEST THING SINCE SLICED BREAD by Don Robertson
- Anything by Vonnegut.
I already know I’m missing a few from the list, but that’s a nice place to start!
Unwinnable wants to bring you the best in pop-culture criticism and creative non-fiction once a week in a beautiful digital magazine.
Love games? Love editorials about games? GOOD, because Unwinnable wants to bring you exactly that with writers like Jenn Frank, Stu Horvath, Gus Mastrapa, Cara Ellison, Brandon Keough, etc. PLUS goodies like beautiful art prints and other wonderful things!
Other wonderful things including editorial art from yours truly!! It would be fucking fantastic to do art for something like this. The thing is, the Kickstarter needs your help! One week left and it still isn’t funded. Every little dollar counts, so please consider helping out, or at least signal boosting. It’d mean the world to me!
Belated birthday gift for a very special friend! Happiest of happy birthdays, Leigh! (Slogan for House Bardugo pending.)
